AN INVITATION AND INTRODUCTION TO AYURVEDA

Ayurveda is an ancient holistic medical system. Originating in India over 5000 years ago, it is based on the unity of body, mind, and soul. The term “Ayurveda” is derived from the Sanskrit words “Ayur” which means life and “Veda” which means science. Thus, ayurveda can be translated as “the science of life.”

Widely regarded as the oldest form of health care in the world, ayurveda is a sophisticated medical system. The fundamentals of ayurveda are found in the Hindu scriptures called Vedas – the ancient Indian books of wisdom.
